Cover Letter - French Teacher

by Ingrid MacGregor
(St. Martin)

February 23rd 2009

Dear Sir or Madam:

I am a graduate of the University of Rouen located in France, where I earned a degree in linguistics with a specialization in teaching French as a second/foreign language.

I have been teaching for twelve years in many settings such as Caribbean schools, French schools, tutoring, adult education and church based curriculums.

My teaching experience has afforded me the opportunity to assume various responsibilities at multiple levels, such as preparing students to for CXC examinations, directing (an) after-school language program(s) (immersion), (AN if singular or PROGRAMS if plural) administration management, counseling students, teachers and families, organizing intercultural exchanges, classroom management and lesson planning. (You might consider reducing this list to 7 key responsibilities).

I have also worked as an assistant-teacher which enabled me to expand my team-working capacity and I am therefore, able to create or develop a cooperative learning environments in the classroom and work well with colleagues on initiatives which improve student achievement.

As a life-long learner, I continually seek professional development opportunities and I am currently receiving distance based Teacher training from Montessori Teacher training.
As I worked at the French Quarter Secondary School (Collège Saint-Martin III) for seven years, I perceived the necessity for different instructional strategies that would address the diverse needs of students regarding in terms of language learning, especially the one in which when they receive instruction in a language which very often differs from the ones spoken at home and that is the reason This is why I became involved in Montessori education since last year. I expect to receive my Montessori certification (primary level) in June.

I feel confident and qualified to take on the challenges offered at your facility, as my teaching experience includes several urban settings with diverse student populations and I am eager to offer my teaching skills within a school district that is committed to high standards in the education of children.

I look forward to an opportunity to meeting with you and further discussing my qualifications further. In the meantime should you need to reach me, please feel free to do not hesitate to e-mail me at ********@hotmail.com . Thank you for considering my application.
Hi Ingrid,

Here is your cover letter. It is excellent! Here are a couple suggestions though, that might make it even better.

1) When you list your experience you don't need to list it all. I would choose the most important things (maybe 5 things) and include them in your cover letter. Employers like to be able to read cover letters quickly.

2) I would consider getting an email account from hotmail or gmail that has your name as the account...Like IngridMacGregor@gmail.com Employers will take you more seriously that way.

3) Keep up the great work and good luck with your job applications!

Have a great day!
-Diana
