Learning a Second Language Enables Better Communication Between People and Cultures.
by Yassin
Learning a second language enables a better communication between people. As it is commonly known, language is a tool of communication. It widely opens doors of dialogue between individuals. As well, speaking a second language excludes reduces misunderstandings between cultures and societies. For this reason, learning a second language requires to should be put kept in its cultural context.
Second languages play an important role in communication. Because The world has become became as a small village, and people are in urgent need of a second language. This purpose would allow them to communicate with other people and to know what is happening around the world. Furthermore, it allows an gives people the opportunity to understand other cultures better.
Another point of interest of in learning a second language is understanding other cultures. In fact, a second language can participate be fundamental in avoiding confrontation between cultures and societies. Also, it permits allows individuals to learn about new cultures and to profit from them. Hence, this way gives birth to tolerance and co-existence. In addition to this, knowing a second language is the key to keeping in touch with the history and culture of other societies.
This last idea will lead us to sheds light on the cultural context of a second language. In deed, if a second language is learned in isolation of its cultural context, it wont be useful, most likely. can not be useful. Here, I mean emphasize the importance of studying a language within its culture. For instance, the meanings of idioms are not always shared between languages.
In conclusion, learning a second language, no doubt, is the solution for creating dialogue between people. But, this can only be achieved only under certain respect of some conditions, for example, learning a language within its culture.
Hi Yassin,
First I must congratulate you on your essay. You form your ideas well and present them well in terms of sentence structure and grammar. Here are a couple of suggestions for you.
First of all, is this for an exam? If you are writing this for an assignment or exam I think you might want to plan your main ideas a little more. When I read the essay, it reads very well, but it seems to repeat two ideas the entire way through. 1) That learning a second language can create dialogue between cultures and 2) that you need to learn a language within the context of its culture.
These are two very strong points and could form a very strong essay but it seems that you are using each point to support the other. For example you say that learning a second language is important to reducing conflict between cultures...and that in order to learn the language properly you must learn the language in the context of that culture. You don't seem to provide more details to support your argument.
I would suggest thinking about other arguments to support these two key points.
Why do we need to learn a language in the context of the culture?
-It explains certain expressions.
-You can see how the language is used in the daily life of this culture and its people.
-You can better understand the origin and use of the expressions that you are learning.
-It makes it more interesting. You are learning about a culture and its people...not just a language.
Do you see what I mean?
I think a little work on your content will really improve your essay. Your writing is good!
Very good...so keep it up. :)
All the best,
Diana Tower
