Passion: How to use it in 5 different situations??

by Hemanth
(bangalore,karnataka,india)

I would like to know how the word 'passion' is used in five different situations. Please form five sentences and describe those sentences.

Apart from this I am finding it difficulty in using to find a word to convey my feelings. I mean that a word gives different meaning in different situation or that the Dictionary meaning differs from literal meaning. I want to say, that a word means different things in different situations or that the dictionary meaning differs from the literal one.

Hi Hemanth,

To answer your first question there are many different ways to use "passion"...here are some examples that I can think of right now.

The Passion of the Christ.
Their passion for each other was obvious.
He killed the man in a fit of passion.
My passion is to teach English.

For more examples and GREAT definitions visit http://www.dictionary.net/passion

There you will find many definitions and examples that will help you.

To answer your second question: I want to say, that a word means different things in different situations or that the dictionary meaning differs from the literal one.

I think you might be looking for "homograph". Homograph is used to describe words that are spelt the same but mean different things or have different origins. (From www.askoxford.com, e.g. pole = piece of wood or metal and pole as in North Pole.

If this is not what you are looking for you can express your desire in other ways.

A word means different things in different contexts.

The meaning of a word changes depending on the context.

The word has several meanings

Have a great day Hemanth!
