(Tell them what position you are applying for).
I enjoy working as a team member as well as independently, possess excellent interpersonal and analytical skills. I am proficient in using technology to enhance data and information management and work efficiently under pressure.
(I believe that the underlined part should go into a different section, like your personal profile for example. This is just supposed to be your objective. To assume the position as __________ (IT Director) and fulfill the roles necessary).
PERSONAL PROFILE
With and Associate's Degree in Information Technology and over 12 years of experience, I have a full understanding of the life cycle of a software development and implementation.
PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND
Aug 2003 - Jan 2007 TECHNOLOGY SECTION SUPERVISOR. GTECH CORPORATION
I recieved several duties which included software development, employee supervision, database management, and system security. I also designed training demo's, which included slide show presentations and developing software simulation programs for training. I went on to design system interface programs for system checks and balances, tools to extract data from the system to be used in Microsoft Products such as Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, and Microsoft PowerPoint, and interdepartmental web pages for Senior Management and Clients.
(Here I would suggest reducing your list of accomplishments down to the 5 most important. Also, the sentences were a little repetitive. Designed...Designed...try to find synonyms for designed...like created, implemented, constructed, configured etc)
Apr 1996 - Aug 2003 SOFTWARE QUALITY ASSURANCE ANALYST. GTECH CORPORATION, United States of America, Atlanta, GA
Responsibilities included; setting up and maintaining testing environments for software quality assurance testing, performing network configurations and network startups to communicate with remote terminals using telephone lines, land lines, and satellite connections, designing test cases to ensure software functioned as requested and approved by clients, monitoring pass/fail status of software testing, logging all software modifications and software status, meeting with senior management, clients, and developers to advise them of design flaws and recommend specific changes needed before release, performing all system processing which included system startup, system security, nightly processing, data and report verification. Providing support to clients during software acceptance testing, providing software training to all departments on new and modified software changes, and providing 24/7 software support which included remote access.
(This is a very long sentence. Actually it was three incomplete sentences that should be one list of responsibilities. I am not sure how you are going to format your resume but you have a couple options. You could reduce the number of items that you provide or you could present the information in a bullet list, rather than in sentences.)
May 1995 - Apr 1996 COMPUTER OPERATOR I & II. GTECH CORPORATION, United States of America, Atlanta, GA
Assist
ed in daily operations of computer systems, carried out all task

ies according to standards. Provided assistance in training new employees as required. Provided support to senior control room coordinators and control room managers. Provided software hotline support,
and performed other duties as assigned.
(Same comment as above Gifford. I didn't change the sentences this time because I am not sure how you are formatting your resume. Bullets or sentences??? Either present these as bullet lists of shorten your list of responsibilities).

BACKGROUND SUMMARY
The key strength that I possess for success in the information technology industry is having successfully designed, developed and supported live use applications. I am a self-starter, eager to learn new things, strive for continued excellence, provide exceptional contributions to customer service, with the ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
(Again, watch out for run on sentences Gifford. You are trying to give too much information in one sentence. Try to divide up your sentences or shorten what you include)
Hi Gifford,
You have a very full resume with lots of experience behind you. I am sure that you will find a great job with your experience and education.
My only suggestion would be to read your resume again and remove any points that repeat the same idea, are less important or redundant. Your resume should be easy to read, simple and direct. If you provide 10 skills that you gained from each job, potential employers might loose interest.
Now that being said, you know your industry. Maybe the IT industry is different from the Humanities. If you feel that you should be including all of these points, then do so. Just make sure to present them as bullet points, rather than incomplete sentences.
Good luck Gifford!
All the best,
Diana Tower
