"Reported Speech for Everyone"
Thank you very much Diana for the tips you gave me about "How to teach a grammar lesson". I know I should have specified the grammar. Now - I hope I don't bother you - let me be more specific in asking " How to teach reported speech for to junior high school students?" - Sayed.
Hi Sayed,
Being specific will help you get the exact answer that you are looking for, for sure. I am sure that you and many others found that first answer helpful.
How to Teach Reported Speech
As reported speech is telling what has been said by someone else earlier (at a different time) I use quotes from famous people to make things more interesting.
Print quotes from famous people (real or invented) onto cards of paper and give 2 or 3 to each student. Get everyone to stand.
Each student will pretend to be that famous person and
say what is on the card. Then they will choose the "victim" that has to
say what they said using reported speech.
Then both students will sit down. Do this until everyone has had a go, and repeat.
For example:
Student1: I love to spend my summers in Europe.- Angelina Jolie.
Student2: (Who is chosen by student 1) She said that she loves to spend her summers in Europe.
You can make it more difficult by using some expressions that you are trying to learn, or use the game to review other vocabulary that you have already learnt.
The sky is the limit.I hope that helps you Sayed.
Fatma asked the same question and I was able to think of some more examples.
