What does "convert" mean?

What does the word, "convert" mean? The word “convert” means to change or become something new, or to alter how something is represented. For example you can convert religions. If I were Baptist and my fiancé were Catholic I could choose to convert to be Catholic or visa versa.

You can also convert wind into electricity. You take wind and change it into something new.

You can also convert measurements (feet to inches), temperatures (F to C), and distance (km to m) etc...
