Lima Peru Versus Miami

by Alfredo
(Miami)

I have lived in two different countries that quite contrast each other in many aspects. I was born in Peru and moved to Miami 6 years ago. Throughout the time that I have lived in both places, I have notices many differences and similarities between them both. Both of these places are crowded cities, but they differ a lot in the way in which people live.

To begin with, one of the differences that I have noticed in my lifestyle in both places is that people who reside in Miami drive everywhere they go. It is not everyday that one sees people walking around the streets in Miami because of several reasons.

Most of the places where people need to go, like shopping centers and malls, are not in the vicinity of their homes, so cars are always a priority in the way people in Miami live.

Moreover the weather plays a big factor in whether people walk or drive because of the inclement weather conditions that exists in this place. Most of the time we have extreme heat waves or heavy rains which makes it impossible for people to walk for long distances.

In the other hand, Peru is a very different city when it comes to how people live and how they get to where they are trying to go. Most people don’t own cars; not because they cant afford them but because owning a car is not a priority in this place.

The streets in Peru have an abundant numbers of vehicles when it comes to public transportation. This is why most people walk everywhere. Also the weather is mild and it barely changes, so people are able to go anywhere without any unexpected surprises.

The similarity between both places is that they are both crowded cities. Miami is a really big city and is known by many people around the world. Because of this people from all over the world come to live in this place.

Furthermore, there is a lot of tourism that is included in their population; Which makes Miami a city that is very crowded most of the time. Another factor that contributes to Miami’s population is people that emigrate from other countries and come here to start a living and leave everything else behind.

Also Peru (Lima) the place in which I used to live is a very crowded city too, just like Miami. It very overpopulated but not because of tourism like Miami. Is a very crowded city because People from all over the country go there to finds jobs and make more money. But the city is not that big so the more people that go over there makes it seem like it is a big city. It is more like a little city with a lot of people.

In conclusion, both Miami and Peru have many similarities and differences both in how people live and how both of the cities are alike in some ways.

Note: Peru is the name of a country, so we cannot compare it with Miami, which is the name of a city.
