PIF: A Picture For My Mom.

I had couple come in for a redo; their first visit the baby wasn't facing us. Even with all the tricks and turn that we try, the baby wasn't in the mood.

Our redo policy is if we can't get images of the baby we invite you back at no cost.

When Mom came in she was very quiet and upset, I asked her what was wrong, she said that this was a waste of time and she shouldn't have come. I responded with a reminder of the instructions that I had given her to come back with.

I tell every redo that they need to come back with a positive attitude and thoughts that they are going to see their baby that day.

After that she began to cry, then told me that she had just lost her mother. She wanted a picture of the baby to place next to her mom at the service, a picture for her mom to see the baby. I started to tear, and reassure her that we were going to see her baby.

This baby was tucked low and turned toward the placenta. I turned and tapped at the baby, it wasn't moving, 20 min seemed like hour's the room was so quiet you could hear the humming of the probe. I tried every trick and the longer it went on the more tears rolled from mom's cheeks. There were just minutes left. To myself I kept asking the baby for one peek, one peek for grandma. All of a sudden the baby turned and looked right at us, we all began to cry in amazement of this beautiful baby before our eyes and then that baby gave us a smile. I believe all three of us in that room wished that baby to turn and look at us and so it did. The mind can do powerful thing.
